I'm very proud to announce the next participant in the Colorful Crochet Lace blog tour. Reneé was the first person I ever had the privilege of mentoring in the CGOA mentoring program for those who have aspirations of becoming a professional designer. I instantly liked Reneé because she's interesting and so easy to talk to. Even though she's gone through trials in her life, as we all do, she still seems to really enjoy life and is a pleasure to those who are around her.

Of course in the mentoring program we don't teach people to design. We just kind of lead the way by answering questions, giving advice, and giving them contacts in the business where they can submit their designs, whether it's to a magazine, book or other places.
I knew Reneé was very talented and I quickly found out she had experience with everything including spinning her own yarn. She even spun some yarn she made for me from her Angora rabbits with Alpaca added to it. I was very impressed and it was so soft that I knew I had to design something with it! I ended up getting a scarf  accepted for the book One Skein Luxury Yarns by Story Publishing. And guess what? My mentee, Reneé, had a design accepteed for the exact same book where she landed a cover design!

Not only that but she became known very quickly when her gorgeous crochet dress design won the Grand prize in the CGOA yearly design contest that is held every year at Chain Link Conference! (Also known as the CGOA Knit and Crochet Show)

I am thrilled to introduce this next designer who is so graciously participating in my book launch of Colorful Crochet Lace . Her name is Susan Lowman and she's very special to me as we bonded while she was tech editing my book, Crochet That Fits, back in 2008. I instantly felt a connection with her, mainly because she's sweet, personable and she took care of my "baby" (the book) as she looked over it to make sure everything was right. As designers, having our books tech edited is quite a stressful thing for us to go through, but Susan made me feel at ease through the whole process. She did a great job because there are no major errors in the book. There are a few minor issues but nothing that would stop a reader from being able to make the projects without problems. Next stop on my book blog tour is at the Hot Lava Crochet blog owned by my designer friend, Tammy Hildebrand. Tammy has been designing crochet for many years and authored several books. She is always bubbly with a smile on her face and encourages everyone she comes in contact with. I'll never forget the pep talk she gave me when I first started designing. I was really upset when a person in the field made some comments that were negative. Tammy came to the rescue saying not to let that person get to me because she was that way with everyone. Tammy made a big difference at that time and she will never know how much that meant to me. I was so new and didn't know anyone yet. 

You may or may not agree, but through my experiences in life, I have learned that people who are always negative, constantly critize and put others down, are miserable themselves and they don't want anyone else to be happy. For some strange reason, they think it makes them feel better, but how could it? No one likes to be around a person who is always focused on themselves. Anyway, Tammy is the opposite if this and is a delight to know!
I've seen Tammy's designs evolve over the years and I have especially
admired her "lace" garments and shawls. She doesn't even know this, but I have told a few people Tammy is one of my favorite designers. Not only is she a super talented designer but she is so sweet and I love her to pieces! Click HERE to see her Ravelry designer page.

I have never met designer, Jocelyn Sass, in person, but feel a real connection with her and am honored to announce her participation in this blog tour. When I first started my designing career, she was one of the persons who welcomed me and supported me in my career.
