Fringed Leg Warmers - Free Crochet Pattern

I just can't believe I have not posted the pattern for these Fringed Leg Warmers before now. I designed them years ago and they were published in Crochet! Magazine in 2006. But they are very stylish today, since you see fringe everywhere!

The publisher put the pattern on the web, free to the public, but it disappeared, so I am going to post it here. The pattern is a beginner level.

Copyright - you have permission to make the leg warmers and even sell your products, but do not had permission to copy and share this pattern as your own. Most people are honest and respect the copyright laws, but I have to say this because there have been a few people who have copied my patterns and sold them as their own. Some have even taken pictures of the patterns in my books ands posted them for free on their blog or website. That is illegal and my publisher has dealt with them.
If you do make projects and sell them on etsy, or at a craft show, it would really be nice if you mention me as the designer. Enjoy the pattern!

Now that tne days and nights are getting cooler it might be a good time to start thinking about making these legwarmers for yourself or maybe even for a friend or granddaughters. This is a really fun project. I first designed these to match a sweater my daughter had. I loved the colors and wanted to recreate that color combination to match.

I love makaing Puff Stitches and even if you have never made that stitch before, it's not difficult at all.  See the solid color ones a friend on Ralvery made. I like the bows she added!

I designed these leg warmers about 7 years ago and
 they were published in a book called "Hooks Only Crochet" by House of White Birches. You can still find this book in some stores, in libraries and of course on Amazon.

I have been surprised at how many people like this pattern and it is now available for free HERE.    Several people on Ravelry have made them and posted their pictures.

These fun to make leg warmers will definitely use up your yarn scraps! If you don’t like stripes just make them in a solid color.

 You can use any worsted wt. (# 4) yarn. I say "fun" because I have always loved making Puff stitches from the time I learned to crochet. As I've said so many times before, I love textured crochet, and this pattern is pretty easy!

I came up with the color combination from a sweater my daughter wore many years ago. I always loved that sweater. I’ll try to find a photo of it and post the pic here so you can see how well they go together.

3 Designs in Sept 06' Issue of Crochet! Magazine

I started designing crochet wearables in 2005, and had 11 designs accepted by DRG that same year. The following 3 designs were actually not published in the magazine til Sept 06. Publishers already know at least 9 months before the publication date the patterns that will be in the magazine. Most magazines know now (Nov. 11') what designs will be in their holiday issue for 2012. These 3 designs were my first ever in a magazine. I know they aren't big items, but I started out with accessories, then in 2007 I started designing garments like sweaters, shrugs, skirts and tops.
