Trend Watch for Spring 2011 - Blue Hues

Spring is just around the corner and I'm anxious for pretty flowers and green leaves to start popping out here in the Dayton, Ohio area. Friday morning I woke up to snow on the ground, but by afternoon the sun was shining brightly and it was warm enough to throw off my winter coat. Later, I got an email from my brother in Fairhope, Alabama (20 miles across the bay from Mobile) saying it's beautiful there with azaleas and dogwoods in bloom. I'm really jealous and wish I could hop on a plane and go there right now. Today is another gorgeous day, and I thought I'd post this info about another color trend for spring - blue!

  1. Love that Bottega Veneta dress. I'd like to find a yarn in that color!

  2. Hi Mary Jane, I couldn't see an email to contact you so I'm cheekily using your comment section to ask a question, apologies! Firstly I love "Positively Crochet", especially the words of encouragement. I'm currently having trouble making up the Airy Vest - I found the answer to some of my problems in your edited re-write section on your site but my last problem is the sewing up of the shoulders - I stopped making it up in my chunky wool and decided to make a miniature version as a test (destined for a teddy bear!) however my shoulder seams are as big as my back which means no neck hole (on checking the pattern the shoulders end with 5(5,6,7,etc) dc and the last row of the back is 11(13,13,13,etc)dc. so both shoulder sides placed on the back actually completely go across with no room for the neck. I know I've probably done something really stupid and it could be that doing it in the chunky wool makes a difference - I would be REALLY grateful if you get the chance if you, or one of your readers, could tell me what I'm doing wrong please - I can't wait to make my own vest up and get onto some of your other patterns. I've already made the lacy choker which is lovely. Many thanks, Debbs

  3. CrochetBlogger, I'm pretty sure Cascade yarn has that color of blue, but it's a 220 wool, so you probably wouldn't want that for a summer dress. I actually used that color (in Cascade) for a purse in Crochet That Fits. Here's a cotton in DK wt. with that color.http://www.cascadeyarns.com/cascade-CottonRichDK.asp
And Pima Silk (w/ cotton) here: http://www.cascadeyarns.com/cascade-pimaSilk.asp
    Another Pima Cotton blend: http://www.cascadeyarns.com/cascade-pimaTencel.asp
    Ultra Pima: http://www.cascadeyarns.com/cascade-UltraPima.asp
I saw lots more yarn there in that denim blue color!
