Macrame Clothing for 2011

I am very excited to see macrame jump to a new level this year. I love some of the fashions I've seen. As stated in an earlier post, I was really into macrame in the 70's. Then about 5 years ago I designed a macrame poncho out of yarn. I will have the pattern for sale as soon as I get the link to Paypal on this blog.  The top below is beautiful. When I uploaded the link photo, the title was gucci crochet, but this is definitely macrame.

I believe this dress may also be macrame, after looking at it close with a magnifying glass

You could do this skirt in Crochet or Macrame

My Macrame Poncho

The macrame poncho came out SO soft and really drapes well.

  1. I'm familiar with macrame work and can recognize it when I see it but I've never really researched how it's made. How does it differ from the way that crochet is done?

  2. It's done without any hook, just by making different knots.

  3. Like Natalia said, it's just knots and SO easy! You just use your hands. In the 70's I made hanging tables, Tiffany lamps, purses, wall hangings, and many other things. I'm going to post my photos of those items whenever i find them. I used to buy macrame books, but never saw any patterns for clothing. I'm really excited about this, (macrame clothing) but it's so hard to be involved in several different things at once. I'm the kind of person who needs to focus on one thing at a time! I'd love to make a macrame top though.
